Build Details and Technical Information

The "New Model A Ford Engine" is now available as a fully assembled short block for those who would like a professional mechanic to do the assembly.

All interfaces for attached parts are identical to those on an original engine.

All moving parts are dynamically balanced to modern engine standards.

All parts are made in modern factories that have good quality control and specialize in making engine parts for modern engines.

Every part in the short block is entirely new and ready to accept your stock or aftermarket parts to complete a running engine.

Our warranty applies to the cylinder block, crankshaft, and connecting rods and our professional mechanic warrants the assembly.

The new short block consists of:

  1. A new cylinder block made from a modern iron alloy that looks like an original cylinder block machined for 5 replaceable 2-inch main bearings, 5 replaceable camshaft bearings, 17 pressure-fed bearings, hard exhaust valve seats, provision for a radial lip rear main seal, and pressure-fed bronze thrust bearings.
  2. A new crankshaft made from nodular iron with 5, 2-inch main bearings, 4, 2-inch connecting rod bearings, 8 counterweights, 4 drilled passages to pressure feed the connecting rod bearings, 18 rolled fillets to prevent fatigue cracking, and an induction hardened surface for the radial lip rear main seal.
  3. 4 new forged steel H-beam connecting rods sized for 2-inch bearings.
  4. 12 pairs of common 2-insert bearings that are available at any auto parts store.
  5. Egge 1104 pistons with Hastings 665 modern thin rings
  6. A new 5 bearing camshaft with a 0.340-inch lift "touring grind" for added power, and a new retaining nut.
  7. A new steel crankshaft and aluminum camshaft timing gear.
  8. 12 common 2-inch insert bearings that are available from any automotive parts store.
  9. 8 Colony single lock tappets adjusted to 0.011/0.012-inch intake and 0.012/0.013-inch exhaust clearance.
  10. Snyder's modern valve kit with shouldered guides and valve springs.
  11. A radial lip rear main seal like those used on Detroit diesel engines.
